It was on the way of my working, I have passed it every morning. The front view of Statue for King Rama I, he was the founder and the first monarch of the reigning House of Chakri. He ascended the throne in 1782, after defeating a rebellion which had deposed King Taksin of Thonburi.

Currently we are in King Rama 9, so imagine he was the King over 200 years ago.

Very interesting history! Are all your kings called Rama? Sigh, I need to read more about Thailand.
