C'mon Let's Loy Krathong
>> Monday, November 2, 2009
If you google it with word "Loy Krathong" in Thailand, you will know what is this mean. In brief is we make floating floral vessel and put onto water as forgiveness to River (Mother of River). You can pick ordinary floral one made of banana tree, leaf and flowers.
Or just full of beautiful leaf and other flowers like above.
What about nice idea of using cabbage as a container?
This is also environmentally friendly one, made of bread. It can be good food to all fish.

This is funny one, bread in turtle shape.
This is how people do, make a wish with Krathong (flora vessel) with lighted candle..and float on to water. It brings you good luck and take away your bad things in life.
For me? I didn't do any, just doesn't feel like it but enjoy seeing people doing so. It was very windy and I feel so good with that.

I've not heard of this tradition, but I like it and the floral arrangements are very beautiful.
Looks like a fun tradition! The fish will be FAT and full this week! Colorful photos!
I've learned something new! Thanks for sharing. I have seen this tradition, but never really knew what it was all about.
I was under the impression that your people light a candle like this and put it into the water to remember the Spirit of those departed from this world. I think that this tradition is very nice. Maybe us here in the USA should do this.

That is really cool. I love seeing the traditions of others.
The river must look so pretty with all these lovely floral arrangements floating by. Nice to learn of a new tradition.
