The Democracy Monument is a public monument in the centre of Bangkok. It occupies a traffic circle on the wide east-west boulevard Thanon Ratchadamnoen Klang, at the intersection the Thanon Dinso. The monument is roughly halfway between Sanam Luang, the former royal cremation ground in front of Wat Phra Kaew, and the temple of the Golden Mount (Phu Kao Thong).
The monument was commissioned in 1939 to commemorate the 1932 Siamese coup d'état which led to the establishment of a constitutional monarchy in what was then the Kingdom of Siam, by its military ruler, Field Marshal Plaek Pibulsonggram Phibun saw the monument as the centre of what he envisaged as a new, westernised Bangkok, "making Thanon Ratchadamnoen the Champs-Élysées and the Democracy Monument the Arc de Triomphe."
This is another choice of your transportation in Bangkok, if you live in Bangkapi, Ramkamhaeng, Sukhumvit, Phetburi Road you can use this service. Along small canal, you will find passenger boat look like this photo, and you have to climb up to pier yourself like that person is doing.
It was fast transport, during rush hour morning in Bangkok. I would show you next post how heavy traffic in the morning, especially on rainy day. If you are not in BTS sky train line, or MRT subway..you can't ignore traffic here.
This is typical train in Bangkok, in Thailand too. It is heading East of Thailand where my hometown is located. The above railway is for Airport link. It is scheduled to finish soon, by end of this year I think.
It was back since December 05, I got the chance to go along Chrao Praya River and see the firework to celebrate our King Birthday.. It was best night light I've seen.
